This describes how people finally decide to help the narrator, but it is too late because the narrator has already given up. Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded. This section describes how the narrator continued to appeal to God for help, but never received an answer, so he begins to think that maybe his prayers are going nowhere. 'I said, 'Where you been?' These lyrics describe that God was on Earth and that the place where he was had been enveloped by the western idealism of survival of the fittest. 'I found God on the corner of First and Amistad, where the West was all but won' I can listen to the song with looking at it wiht a different perspective. My perspective of this song changed a lot too, but I love how The Fray songs have so many different meanings. But this time he took more, he ruined his relationship with that girl. Taking all I wantвЂќ heвЂ™s waited for his dad for years but when he came back like before he took everything from him. Losing herвЂќ then this girl he falls for starts helping him out of his depression.Even though he feels like she came late, why couldnвЂ™t she have come when I needed someone. That never cameвЂќ he waited for his dad to come back and appogise but he never did. He said, ask anythingвЂќ I thought this was a boy who saw his dad as a godly figure a role model, but that image vanished in time. When I first listened to the song I thought the song was about a man whoвЂ™s dad did him wrong, left him. But it's a great song that I think a lot of people can relate to at times. This is a sad and emotional song, regardless if I am right about the lyrics. The man is angry at God for taking 'all he wanted', meaning the woman that he lost (maybe a girlfriend, mother, etc.). Where was He when the man needed him? 'Just a little late' shows that God was too late. He goes on and on, asking God where he was during the hardest and most trying times of his life. And that's when he says to God, 'where were you?' and God says 'ask anything'. He does it at the corner of First and Amistad. He starts to lose his faith, in God and in everything around him. And now that she is gone, he feels helpless and he calls out to God for years. I think the song is about a man who lost someone extremely important in his life, someone that knew him inside and out.
